Charmaine joined Independent Tax in April 2024 as VAT Manager.

After working for HMRC for 15 years, Charmaine has an extensive knowledge of VAT after her roles within HMRC’s Large Business Team and the Fraud Investigation Service.

This experience has meant Charmaine has an in-depth insight and understanding across all VAT sectors including Pharmaceutical, Automotive, Retail, Energy, Healthcare, Construction and Land and Property. She is used to working with owner managed businesses through to high net worth individuals and large companies.

Charmaine has a passion for VAT compliance in particular and helping clients get VAT right first time. She strives to complete work to the highest standard, in line with current case law and VAT Notices issued by HMRC.

Away from all things VAT related, Charmaine enjoys hiking and sports in her spare time and can usually be found enjoying some areas of outstanding beauty across Yorkshire and the Peak District with her friends and family.
