Dan joined Independent Tax in April 2024 having spent 8 and a half years working for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Having qualified as a Corporation Tax Specialist, Dan spent most of his time at HMRC leading teams of tax specialists on complex cross-tax enquiries within Wealthy and Mid-Sized Business, developing an in-depth understanding of enquiries across indirect and direct taxes. Dan later moved into an Insolvency role, advising colleagues across HMRC on technical tax risks involving companies entering insolvency procedures.

This experience has provided Dan with a detailed understanding of HMRC investigations and enquiry powers, in particular the application of penalty powers and personal liability notices.

Away from work, Dan is a keen sports fan, and spends his free time attempting to get his golf game back to a respectable position.
