Guy Smith
Guy is a tax dispute problem solver.
He spent 15 years working for HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), with the bulk of that time spent on investigation related work from walking up and down High Streets to find unregistered businesses as a Compliance Officer, through to negotiating settlements across the desk as a Tax Inspector.
Using that experience, Guy has now worked in the private sector for a similar amount of time, representing clients who require sensible, practical advice to resolve their tax disputes with HMRC. Guy handles everything from disclosures through to enquiries and Code of Practice 9 investigations.
In addition to his role as a Senior Manager at Independent Tax, Guy is also a Consultant Editor and Author for Tolley Guidance and sits on the ICAS Tax Bulletin Editorial Board.
Away from work, Guy supports Brackley Town FC and has been interviewed on Match of the Day, BT Sport and local BBC Radio stations to discuss his passion for the club. He also enjoys live music and going to the cinema.
